My Favorite Morning Alternative to Caffeine

We all love a delicious morning beverage. Especially one that keeps us alert and energetic. Unfortunately, most of the coffee drinks we usually have are full of sugar, caffeine, and unhealthy dairy. The combination creates an imbalance in our system and can create a cycle of fatigue. I was on a mission to find a low sugar, caffeine-free drink in the morning.When I heard about Bulletproof Coffee, it resonated for me. Coffee with healthy fats as a way to sustain the energy and fuel your brain is brilliant. Sadly, even though the caffeine is more tolerable it still affects me in a negative way. It makes me a little shaky. It also triggers my cortisol. So, not only does it contribute to stress and anxiety but it also prevents me from losing weight.But I really wanted a caffeine-free morning beverage that is filling, warm and good for me.I love tea but even a tea latte wasn't cutting it. And then I discovered Four Sigmatic Mushrooms. Hallelujah!  in Chinese Medicine we use mushrooms a lot because they are a superfood. The benefits are countless. But I always found it challenging to incorporate into my daily regimen. Four Sigmatic has created delicious powders that include these miracle mushrooms. It's genius.This mushroom stuff was the perfect foundation for all the other supplements I wanted to incorporate into my morning routine.Since I don't do caffeine I wanted to still have a powerhouse morning beverage that filled me up and helped me feel great. 

What I Put In My Caffeine-Free Morning Beverage and Why

Four Sigmatic Hot Cacao:

They offer a variety of mushrooms and drinks. I just prefer hot cacao. I usually choose the Reishi one. Reishi has been a revered mushroom for thousands of years and is famous for supporting longevity. It's considered an adaptogen herb which means it helps you adapt to the world around you. This is fantastic for stress. It is a calming mushroom but doesn't make you sleepy. 

Collagen:

If you want to look radiant collagen is your new best friend. It's great for your skin, hair, nails, joints, digestive system, and immunity. It's also a significant source of protein. 

Maca:

This Peruvian powder is another superfood. Maca has traditionally been used for reproductive and sexual health. It's loaded with antioxidants, improves mood and memory, and balances your hormones. It has a nutty flavor that I find blends well with the hot cacao. 

Brain Octane Oil:

This is the stuff. Brain Octane Oil is a special kind of good fat that supports brain function, helps you burn fat, and is a healthy source of energy. 

Grass-Fed Butter:

Don't be afraid of butter, at least not the high-quality grass-fed kind. It's good fat, has good cholesterol, and fights inflammation. Grass-fed butter can even support weight loss. Here is a video of how I bring it all together (recipe below). It creamy, delicious and ready in three minutes. That's faster than your favorite Starbucks order.

Carmen's Caffeine-Free Morning Beverage Recipe

1 packet mushroom cacao (or other mushroom beverage)2 scoops collagen1 teaspoon maca powder1 teaspoon Brain Octane Oil (can get your digestive system going so slowly work your way up to 1 tablespoon)2 tablespoons unsalted grass-fed butterHot water 1.
